Heart

The term “heart” here means the metaphorical heart we refer to in everyday speech when we say “our hearts were breaking,” or “I watched a heart-warming TV show.”

Looking at it more rigorously, the word “heart” here also refers to the inner intersection of a person’s will, reason, and feelings.
