This website focuses on two essential purposes of an effective religious congregation:

1. help us understand our changes of heart

2. help cultivate positive, integrating changes of heart.

Of course religious congregations have other essential purposes as well, including the work of moving our world closer to the Beloved Community.  My denomination, the Unitarian Universalist Association, offers banners with these words:  “Nurture Your Spirit. Help Heal Our World.”   This is a good, short summary.  We are called to find a creative balance between acting to heal the world, and caring for our hearts and spirits.
